Wow ... it's been a proud day at Blackhall ... not only did our fab EuroQuiz team from P6 win the Edinburgh round, but today they came 3rd equal in the Scottish Finals at the Parliament.  We were able to watch them live on the web and the noise when we were announced and then when we heard our placing - well we thought the roof would come off - the cheering was so loud!

A huge well done to the team and the P6 staff who put them through their paces!

April 2013

We are delighted to share with you that the school, thanks to our fabulous Fair Trade Committee, has been awarded another year of Fair Trade status.  The committee comprises of children from each year group, Miss Stewart and Mrs Madden.  They do a fantastic job of promoting Fair Trade within the school and have this year made great connections with local businesses and Sainsburys at Craigleith.  WELL DONE EVERYONE!

We are looking forward to welcoming the children back to school on Monday 8th April at 8.50 a.m.

Remember lunch money and School Reports return slip, thanks!

We are absolutely delighted to announce that we have gained our 3rd Green Flag from Eco Schools Scotland.  Our pupils, especially our amazing Eco Committee, Mr Galloway, Miss Smail and Miss McCutcheon, have been working really hard to get ready for our assessment day, so a HUGE well done to them!

Gaining our renewed Eco status is a whole school community effort though ... so well done to all of our pupils and an extra big thank you to all the families who helped in our Tidy Up day recently!

Blackhall is doing it's bit to save the world!

Additional Support Needs

An additional support need comes from anything which is a barrier to learning.  Most or all schools will have some children with additional support needs of some kind.  The education authority has many legal duties towards pupils with additional support needs.  Information about this is contained in a booklet called In On The Act Information For The General Public which is published on the education authority website at

www.edinburgh.gov.uk/inontheact

- or contact the additional support for learning team on telephone number 469 3444.
