 Sports Relief

We have had a fantastic, fun day helping to contribute to Sports Relief - Thank you to all our families who contributed money and the fab (healthy) cakes ... we will have a grand total for you on Monday.

The new Spring/Summer lunch menu which starts on 22 April is downloadable from the bottom of this page.

 Fairtrade Fortnight

We have had a fantastic Fairtrade Fortnight - the children have all been learning how to make a difference.  We have been learning about Fairtrade food, clothing and the difference that purchasing Fairtrade items will make to the farmers all over the world.

A big THANK YOU to the Fairtrade committee and Miss Stewart for all their fantastic work!

Numeracy Curriculum Evening

We had a super evening sharing the Numeracy learning at Blackhall.  Huge thanks to Gail Middlemiss, our Principal Teacher, Ruth Cameron, our P1/2 Teacher and Louise Stevenson, the council's Numeracy Development Officer, for leading our event. We refer to our numeracy work as SEAL, which stands for Stages of Early Arithmetical Learning.  This is an initiative being rolled out across the Edinburgh primary schools.

A copy of their powerpoint is attached to the bottom of this page.

Primary 1 Enrolment for August 2014

We have a few events coming up over the next few weeks for families who have a child in their preschool year.

Tuesday 5th November - We are having an Open Day.  Please come along for a tour between 9.30 and 11.30 or 1.30 and 3.00.

The Playground Tidy Up Morning was great fun ... a huge thank you to all the families who came along to help.  We got quite a lot of jobs done ... let's hope the wind doesn't blow too many more leaves off the trees this week!

Thank you to the PSA for the yummy filled rolls and cakes!

 Welcome Back

We are really looking forward to seeing the children on Wednesday morning.  The children from P2 - P7 should be at school for an 8.50 a.m. start, with water and snack, lunch or lunch money, indoor shoes and PE Kit. Staff will be outside to help you find where to line up.

P1 pupils will have been given a time to arrive and should line up outside their new classroom door.

The new Lunch Menu is attached at the bottom of this page - it runs from 8th April onwards.

If your child is unwell, please remember to call the school office on 336 1023 to inform us that he/she will be off.

You should call each morning of their absence - thank you!

Additional Support Needs

An additional support need comes from anything which is a barrier to learning.  Most or all schools will have some children with additional support needs of some kind.  The education authority has many legal duties towards pupils with additional support needs.  Information about this is contained in a booklet called In On The Act Information For The General Public which is published on the education authority website at

- or contact the additional support for learning team on telephone number 469 3444.
