6 Sep 2007 - Health Promoting School
At the end of last term we submitted our portfolio of work towards Stage 1 accreditation as a Health Promoting School. We are delighted to announce that this submission was successful. We have been invited to an award ceremony on the 6th November when we will be presented with our award for Level 1.
One of the many pieces of evidence we submitted was the wonderful work contributed by our PSA for initiating and running Fruit Friday. This demonstrated how parents, carers and children identified the need to have fruit available beyond the P1 and P2 Snack Attack scheme. It would be a great shame if this could not continue this session due to the challenges of establishing a fruit rota. The school is incredibly grateful to all those parents who continue to give up their precious time to wash and chop our fruit.
We are already busy planning for Stage 2 accreditation. This is an opportunity to make sure our commitment to promoting a healthy lifestyle is embedded throughout the school. We are currently liaising with our new Active Schools Co-ordinator, Emma Hughes, to plan for a Health Week as we have had in previous years. This will take place next term.
